Gopalan Nair's quickie press conference
After Gopalan Nair was charged, for the second time, with insulting a judge, he held a press conference. An inside look into what happens at a press conference. How much of that will be in tomorrow's news? Full essay.

There is no mention of the press conference in the local dailies.
I wonder if the email that he allegedly sent in March 2006 was sent while he was physically present in the United States. If so, his being charged may represent an unusual attempt to exert its jurisdiction into another country's territory. Shouldn't U.S. laws apply to people writing blogs from within the US, or emails sent from the US? Or is Singapore now going to arrest visiting or transiting foreigners that may have criticized Singapore on their personal blogs years in the past?
