Alex, FYI - Mr Brown has nothing about this on his website. He didn't write about it.

Glad DBS removed its promotion of FOTF. It was weird hearing the "a charity dedicated to helping children and families thrive" tag line associated with FOTF.

There's no point in doing corporate sponsorship if we're not socially responsible. AS in this case, it has backfired against DBS and for very good reasons. So well done YB and the rest who took the inititative! Most importantly DBS and other SG corporations will learn from this and be mindful of who and what they support, rather than simply wanting to be seen as supporting something, anything.

Alex, perhaps we should look beyond and find out exactly what FOTF (Singapore)... yes, the branch in Singapore, does. FOTF(Singapore)may not be as "enthusiastic"? as what it's counterparts/origin are doing.
I look at the FOTF(Singapore) homepage and there's no mention of their religious affiliation... at all. Although that doesn't mean that they are not religiously affiliated.

Well done!

I've noticed FOTF's columns in Today over the past year or so.

I've been disturbed by the way they subtly push a fundie Christian worldview by mixing their favourite values with advice that seems sound on the surface. Values that we all know and love such as female submission, homophobia and blind obedience of children.

So, thanks to the GBLT community for raising this issue! =)

There's also no point in "corporate social responsibility" when a company "fails to inform their customers of the risks involved with a product because their sales-force need to make sales to make a living" that results in "the loss of an elderly's retirement fund".

Should we say that DBS is helping children at the expense of the elderly? But the hundred millions from the elderly far exceed their charitable donations.

Any claims of DBS intentionally supporting a particular segment of society at the expense of another cannot be refuted until DBS acknowledges and amends their unfair treatment of different segments.
