Yet another exploitative story by the New Paper

Supposedly, the story was about a young doctor caught for possessing drugs, devoting 61 words to that court case. 745 more words were about gays, drugs, sex. This was just 3 months after an earlier New Paper story about gays, drugs, sex; and only 1 month after a story about gays, HIV, sex. Full essay.

this post will definitely not see the light of day ...

it's not race tt's holding the malays back, but the evil religion of islam that brainwashes them into the depraved perverts they are.
How else can you explain why people chose to enforce retrograde laws like syriah and muslim nations banning ANY religion except islam?
In my encounter with many of them, some have let slip the conspiracy of insinuating themselves into societies that uphold pluralism and multiculturalism. They will demand special privileges and proceed to undermine that society to its desired outcome, all the while under the protection of the very freedoms they deny others back in their own country.
in your quest for fair play, do not support the islamists because they are simply bad news. They are merchants of hate, with evil in their dna, always seeking to steal, kill & destroy.
Fair warning has been given.

God! Does this kind of shitty journalism really exist? And I thought this was the 21st. century. Compared to this, the Dark Ages seem like the Renaissance!

The New Paper's headline appears to be defamatory to gays. "THEY pop pills to get high..." implies that gay people are drug popping sex addicts. As a gay person, I am offended by this. Alex, could someone with money and resources sue the New Paper for defamation? Although they do say "some gays" in the course of their writeup, it is much less prominent and not part of the headline. Their intent is to defame gays to sell newspapers at the expense of the integrity and reputation of a large portion of the population. It is comparable to racism.

To the first "anonymous" -

As indicated by your own post, there's a difference between the Malays as an ethnic group and the "Islamists". While it is undeniable that some Muslims (mostly non-Malays) have taken up an ideology that promotes withdrawal from the modern world and/or separation and/or violence, as have fringe adherents of other religions, it is precisely the kind of muddled thinking that I'm warning about (and that is the launching pad for such "shitty journalism") to lump Malays and Islamists together.

Since years back I've deemed TNP as tabloid trash and refused to buy another copy. Maybe Yawning Bread should do the same and simply ignore what they write, for they warrant no response from learned ones for the rubbish they publish.

Adrian Yeo deserves our sympathy and our support as the brother he is. Yet, we should not take him up as a martyr sacrificed on the altar of an intolerant Singapore by an inflammatory press. He made a bad choice and the police and TNP pounced. Queerdom has prurient and persistent fascination for the readers of TNP. This does not surprise us. That a young man so promising and intelligent would risk his future for the promise of transitory pleasure in a Hotel 81 does not surprise us either. I have taken similar risks, and so have many others. Let’s not make Adrian Yeo and his unwanted renown a merely another source of outrage. Let’s make it an opportunity for compassion for a fallen brother. What can we do to ameliorate his suffering? What comfort can we offer and how do we offer it?

This is a little late, considering the post and comments were like 2 weeks ago. But I think the gay issue has clouded the fact that a potential fully licensed doctor was abusing drugs. That should be the point of contention here and that is why we should make sure he never gets the opportunity to practice clinical medicine. To me, and many others, the fact that he was going to meet 2 men at the hotel instead of 2 women is irrelevant.
