My kissing project, part 2

A photo exhibition needs a licence from the MDA. After 5 weeks, I still haven't heard from them, and the exhibition is due to start next week. Full essay.

Hey Alex,

In case you don't know it yet, it is a common ploy used by the MDA. They intentionally withhold the license to just before opening night so as to blackmail the artiste into submitting to their wishes. Because by that time, the artiste would have invested time and money and the show is ready to go. MDA will then be able to dictate to the artiste their demands and he/she will have no choice but to comply - on the pain of having the whole show canceled.

Good luck! IMHO, my guess is MDA will probably dictate some censorship to your photo exhibition, although I wish it wouldn't.

We need to face the reality of the existence of homosexuals. There are just so many practical consequences of ignoring this reality. E.g. The legal issues (who is the next-of-kin), the healthcare issues (educating healthcare workers about GLBTs and understanding about sexuality other than the heterosexual norms), etc. Ignoring GLBTs' existence is making some work harder than necessary.

i couldn't believe it when i read that you need a license to hold an exhibition here... that's crazy.

good luck with the application, btw, if all else fails have you considered a guerilla exhibition? on the afternoon of the show post a number that punters can text to receive the location/time... i know it goes against the whole idea of showing that GLBT people should be an accepted and unremarkable section of society, but at least it gets your pics out there...?
