Bye bye, musical fountain

Sentosa's musical fountain has to make way for a casino and integrated resort. Some pictures before it goes into history. Photo essay.

I also remember the main animated character saying something about all the diversity and people in Singapore living together peacefully in harmony. It kind of made me sick to my stomach.

Not so much that the art wasn't there but more like the "heart" was missing. As with anything that the public or civil service does, there's no heart. I should know; I was a public servant for 31 years.

Brought my Korean friend to see the show some years back. Yup, lost me at the laser story too... yawn. I would have preferred them to stick to just the lights and music like even more years back.

I went and took a last look because I had vague memories enjoying it as a child.

But the version of the show I saw yesterday night was terrible. There was some kind of plot which was to say the least a total disaster.

Kind of regret seeing it - now I will remember the show as a nightly national embarrassment. I'm really disappointed because given the technical ability of the hardware the fountain was made of, it certainly could have been a renowned attraction in its own right.

I remember some nice use of the musical fountain and the fireball jets at the Nation Party in 2004... sigh.
